Hard at work

The soffit was finished late yesterday, so I didn't get the pictures till today.

Have I mentioned what a good worker she is. We spentmost of the day finishing up the insulation. Madison cut, mom hung them and stapled the top and I came behind and cut around boxes, receptacles, etc., and stapled the rest and cut it off at the floor if too long. Working together like this we got the whole house done in 2 days. No more itching!!!

Itchy, itch, itchy...

Yesterday the soffit was started. They got alot done in one day and it is really looking nice. It is going to be an amazing porch!

We finished the ceiling insulation yesterday also. I am so happy. I am always happy to end each part, but this one I NEVER want to revisit!

We already got started on insulating the walls. This is the living room.

Dining room View of the Bedroom end of the house. The window is Tanner's. The one on the porch is the Master bedroom window.

The cows REALLY enjoyed their hay. They didn't even take the time to be curious about me being out there today.

Here is my cowgirl...muck boots and my old jacket 5 sizes to big for her.

Today before I got started on the house I had to do chores out on the farm. It doesn't really seem like a farm yet, since I don't live here, but that is what it is.

They were a bit thirsty this morning. They usually don't like to get near the running water and never stick their heads in until there are a few inches.

We had our neighbor deliver a roll of hay yesterday. This roll was 2600 pounds. This is what they did in just one evening. They are such messy eaters.

Theya re also extremely curious, they are always watching me.

And following me...

A view of the house from the pasture.

The house is all painted now. I put on the finishing touches this morning. Today the soffit was delivered. The porch makes a really great loading dock.

You might be curious about the hole in the foundation. That is for the composting toilet that is currently being stored in the shed.

Sampson, Tank and Sheba guarding the sheep...and hoping we will stop by for a pet.

The sheep are really happy with their hay bale. Theirs was a bit smaller, only 2200 pounds.

Painting and insulation

On Friday we were working on a number of things. Mom and I had started the insulation while dad was working on some plumbing. He is currently working on the plumbing that goes in the walls, so when we are finished insulating we can go right to sheet rock.

Insulation is such itchy stuff. I am just glad it isn't hotter out than it is right now, or it would be a really miserable job. I just feel coated in the stuff and it is always falling in my face. Unfortunately the safety goggles are so tight that they fog up and then I can't see. I will be happy when the ceiling part is finished.
Today Eric and Madison and I worked on getting the last pieces of the carport shelter up for the sheep, when they get here. Madison is such a good sport, she will try anything we ask her to. She was climbing all over that carport roof.

It has been raining again. As you can see all the tire tracks have water in them.

Tanner is so excited to be able to play on the porch. This picture was taken out of the Master bedroom window.

More painting...

Today we worked on more painting...

We got alot more finished.

Only the really hard parts are left. Anyone want to volunteer? I hate being on the extention ladder up against nothing. See that little corner at the left. That is it (shivers).

The front of the house.

Today we also had our FINAL Rough-in electrical inspection. And yes...we passed!

Super busy day

Monday morning bright and early at 8am here we are painting the house. We had been trying to get this started for weeks but it had always been too wet and rainy. I started the day by finishing the caulking. I needed to caulk the seams between the top and bottom pieces of siding, and then around all the windows.

While I did that Mom and Madison got started painting. They couldn't paint where I was working, or would be working. So Mom worked high and Madison worked low. When I finished with the caulking, I came back and painted the really high stuff. Have I mentioned that I really don't like being on a ladder higher than 4 steps?

Today the porch is also being started. We hired a local guy that has been out of work and he does a great job and works hard. This is the view out fo the front door.

The front porch framing

The end of the day and look how much is completed.

At the end of the first day of painting.

I think we got alot accomplished

I can't wait till its finished.
Today was also our second electrical inspection. There will be a third, we failed again. I had restapled all of the wires at the boxes, but not all of them were close enough to the boxes. So I get to do it all again.
I was able to finish that today so we will have our third inspection on Thursday. I can't see what else he could fail us on. Once that is done it is on to insulation!

More wiring....

Today we are wiring again. Since the failed inspection we cleared up a few of the issues he had, one of which would have been really expensive and time consuming. So now we are restapling all of the wires at the boxes.
That means that at each receptacle box and at each light switch I had to staple the wire to the stud exactly in the middle of the stud. It doesn't sound like alot of work, but it took all day.
I have to say, we have been wiring for over 7 weeks now. I am ready to move on to the next part. Hopefully everything will be done right today and we will pass our inspection next week

Here are the pigs. They have been in this new area for exactly 12 days.

They really love their food. We just can't wait until they will be our food. Grow piggies grow...

Tonight we are having lamb for dinner. This is one package of lamb chops. They are tiny, it looks like about 2-3 bites per chop. So I will be getting out 2 more packages.

So many jobs...so little time

It rained last night. this picture is from the back door. That cement block pillar will be the support for the porch. So in essence this is my back yard...a mud pit.
Today Dad is working on wiring things that don't need my help, so I am doing other things that have been waiting until I have time. Today that job is filling the porch supports with cement.

Mixing cement

The hole being filled

Some of the pillars were a little lose, so we wanted to make sure they don't ever move.

I don't think that is going anywhere.
